Animal studies

This scheme of work has been adapted from a project I completed at drama school while studying characterisation. It is ideally designed to be delivered to Year 10 pupils as part of their programme of study, whether they are studying GCSE or BTEC. It focuses on creating a character from the stimulus of studying animal behaviour. It also introduces pupils to monologue. This is an immediate challenge for pupils to begin to dispel inhibitions that they might have at the beginning of the course. It is a chance to learn lines and perform in front of the class on their own. It is an opportunity for pupils to begin to do a skills audit, allowing the pupil and teacher to identify strengths and weaknesses and set targets for the next scheme. They will also quickly become aware of the demands of performance within the course.
