Political animals

£14.95

Students have a variety of interactions with animals in their lives. The majority eat them. Some have them as pets. Some rarely see them at all apart from on television. The aim of this scheme of work is to raise ethical questions regarding the treatment of animals, but also to consider the role that some animals play in society. It examines a range of different styles of performance while looking at comic and serious scenes. As a scheme of work it can be used to raise other ethical issues as the focus on animals could be applied to other groups. There are also occasions for teacher in role and for practical work. This scheme is designed to run over four lessons, but it could easily be extended and linked into other subjects.

Number of lessons: 4
