Edexcel GCSE: western classical music

In this article I look at the Edexcel Western Classical Music set works with a particular focus on the questions that might be asked in the listening paper. As with my articles on the other areas of study, I do this by considering the different areas of knowledge needed for the paper, as follows:
- Context – a small amount of background material, both historical and stylistic
- Style and overview – the main stylistic features of the work, arranged so that students can revise them by keeping the elements of music in mind
- Suggested questions – in the style of both sections in the exam
