This KS5 scheme of work is based on the retelling of some well-known traditional tales. The scheme is divided into sessions based on six different stories with a focus on key elements of Drama and Theatre Studies. The scheme can be used as a starting point for both the AQA and Edexcel AS level Unit 2. In addition to this, the scheme can be used to focus students in specific areas of Drama or as a foundation for devised work.

Carol Ann Duffy and Tim Supple are well known for adapting Grimm’s Fairy Tales for stage, and this collection of tales has a very similar feel to it. There is lots of scope for students to play multiple roles, use physical theatre and ensemble work, and experiment with the work of the practitioners that they have studied. This scheme of work offers a range of useful starting points to allow students to explore this fantastic text.
