Vision

‘Where there is no vision the people perish ...’ ‘It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness...’
This is a series of lesson ideas designed to encourage a sense of aspiration, of raising the eyes from the ground, not letting distractions and problems get in the way. Dreams and ambitions are good. It is a life lesson to strive to achieve balance and purpose; it’s a drama when it doesn’t work.
The scheme offers a basic lesson grid with an eye on assessment, GCSE, differentiation and performance outcomes, followed by twenty-one different obstacles to a teenage sense of vision, dreams and motivation from which teachers can pick and mix.
The terminology of Edexcel GCSE Drama Units 1 and 2 describe building drama processes, but the scheme is applicable to all specifications requiring performance on a theme linked to a genre and knowledge and understanding of turning ideas into drama.
