Malala Yousafzai

This one-off workshop will develop students’ understanding of Malala Yousafzai using the drama medium and elements, and exploratory strategies. The lesson will enable students to make connections between drama practical work and wider social, cultural, historical and political contexts. It runs as a lesson with a series of outcomes and one final larger end piece. It can easily be adapted to extend beyond one lesson.

Learning Objectives

• Use drama medium, elements and exploratory strategies to explore Malala Yousafzai’s life
• Discuss the themes and issues in the stimuli
• Work collaboratively with others to produce original, creative, dramatic and performance responses from a given stimulus
• Extended objectives: Some students will develop their use of physical theatre in developing original work; some students will develop their use of chorus and non-naturalism.
