Coping with the GCSE ensemble experience
Practical guidance for managing the GCSE ensemble rehearsal and recording process, as well as encouraging students to reflect on and take responsibility for their own learning.
Let’s be honest: managing ensemble performances and recordings is a nightmare. It’s not just working with the students and helping them to rehearse, setting a suitable date for recording and marking the final result, but also ensuring that everybody is working to the best of their ability, is on track and has settled on a good choice of music that will enable them to achieve.
There are no easy answers to these issues and monitoring and enabling student performances will probably always be demanding, require all a teacher’s skills and experience and in some cases prove to be a protracted process.
