Lighting, sound, design and stage management are all important production skills that make a valuable contribution to the performance content of a drama course.
These areas can be studied as a coursework option and some students may be interested in continuing their study on production arts courses in further and higher education.
However during Teaching Drama’s Green Room debate in the autumn term 1 2010/11 issue, it became apparent that ‘many teachers feel uncomfortable and unable to prepare their students in these areas’. As such, this toolkit is designed to help as a guide to teaching the basics of lighting.
