Two set works are prescribed for Section B of the AQA Unit 4 exam: Mahler Symphony no.4 in G major and Vaughan Williams Symphony no.5 in D major. Students will have opted to study one of these set works.

In the exam, students are given a choice of two essay questions on their chosen set work. Each question is worth 30 marks out of a total of 100 for the exam. Students take clean copies of the scores into the exam with them and are allowed to write bar numbers on them beforehand.
