Teenage students often like the dark side, some sci-fi, mysteries, the unsolved/unknown, eccentric, horrors and the bizarre. The off-beat and unusual frequently inspire their drama, without necessarily turning to comedy. This scheme is built around the dramatic possibilities of these themes with emphasis on drama skills and characterisation.
Six lessons use the terminology of Edexcel GCSE Drama Units 1 and 2, but are applicable to other specifications requiring performance on a theme linked to a genre, and knowledge and understanding of turning ideas into drama. It is designed for KS4 but is readily adaptable for KS3, particularly Years 8 and 9.
