Why set homework for KS3 music? It is impossible to set practical music-making tasks that follow on directly from what has been done in class unless you are certain that students have instruments at home, or you are using web-based software for composing. You may well have a school policy on homework that stipulates that every subject will set homework regularly. The question is how to fulfil the requirements of the policy without resorting to half-hearted ‘colouring-in’ or fact-finding tasks.
