Even the most confident and capable of people can be subject to stress and anxiety at times of great change, and this is often true of Year 6 and 7 pupils who are preparing for, or dealing with the aftermath of, transition from KS2 to KS3. The reasons behind this are well rehearsed and do not need to be discussed here. It is the responsibility of the professionals involved – primary and secondary teachers – to manage that change efficiently and sensitively in order to ease the passage and minimise strain on children.
